Kay does a nice job adapting this pedal steel "evergreen" to the non-pedal world. Thanks Kay! Great work. Smile

Here is a tune from the late 40s written by Floyd Tillman. I have heard it played on pedal steel by the great masters Buddy Emmons, Hal Rugg, Bobbe Seymour, the late and great Jeff Newman, others..

Here i have adapted it for lap steel. Key of Eb, West Coast Steel C6.

When I heard it in the 40s it wasn't on a pedal. That was back when everyone was trying to play like JB. Nice tune.

Here is a video

The encoding quality and audio/video sync of YouTube are less than ideal or, more likely, I have not mastered the method yet... bear with me..

I didn't see any thing wrong with the video, looked and sounded excellent. Slants are a problem for me since I'm new to lap steel, but you nailed them. It gives me incentive to practice them.

Kay, the video is fine. However, you make it look so fluid, easy, and effortless. And beyond that, your sound is awesome! Quite the inspiration for us newer, evolving players. I don't get the straight pitch on 100% of the time and have much less success with slants, need much more work and practice. Thanks for the video, nicely shot to allow us to study your fine technique and tone. Appreciate it.

Hi Kay,
That's a fine rendition of the tune. Nice tone and execution, plus you really have those bar slants down!
