New SGF member in SoCal

Post by Daryl Smetana »

Howdy all, Let me introduce myself to the Forum. My name is Daryl and I live in North Tustin, CA. I work in Aerospace, but have always played music and have a degree in Physics and Audio Engineering. I am an ensemble player on guitar, banjo, dobro, pedal steel (MSA classic S12, 5/4 that Reece helped me upgrade to 5/8 Bb6 Universal back in 1986, uilt alot of parts for that), lap steel (A Rickenbacher, 1948 I think) and a new custom I just built, and some mandolin and keyboards. I am a master of none, but I think competent on each and seem to always find something to play that enhances the whole. I love all kinds of music and have played everything from bluegrass to new wave. I currently play and sing with a group that is now club ready called "About Time". We're fighting that Catch22 with promoters to get into the local club scene. I seem to be focusing more these days on lap steel and am evolving my skills.

This forum is a wealth of information and nice people. Thanks Rick Aiello for suggesting I get involved. Rick built a potbelly pickup for my first instrument build and offered to host some pictures for me on the forum saying that you all would be very interested. After looking around, I decided to join and do it myself. I will post info on the build in the "No Peddlers" section shortly, I love that name, but alas....

So, I am glad to join the family and am sure I can add to the forum. I look forward to getting to know you.

Regards, D
