It has been months and months since I checked into the forum. My transition from Steel to Brass is just about complete. I've been playing nothing but trumpet and cornet since last August and have never felt such a passion for an instrument in my life.

I didn't leave behind my collecting craze though: I've gone through 3 trumpets, 2 cornets, a flugelhorn and a pocket trumpet. My current favorite though is a modified Bach Stradivarius and about a month or so ago, I actually started playing out at some jams in town and I didn't get booed of the stage.

I'm selling all of my steel related books, videos, and DVDs over in the for sale section and also my Road-o-phonic. I'll be posting more as I find them on my bookshelves.

With that Clinesmith D8 PA reissue, I'd say I got out just in time: I would have had to mortgage the house!

Bill, in some circles they would call that backsliding. Winking

In other circles they would call it regression. Winking

In others, it is a tragic divorce. What happened to the marriage? Confused

Aloha, Smile

I hear you Don.

Love of jazz and particular love of jazz on a brass instrument broke up the marriage. I just could never get my head around playing jazz on the steel (although I know others have).

And playing trumpet was like coming back to my high school sweetheart: my first love.

I'm glad to hear you're doing well and still playing music, Bill. Whatever instrument you choose, good music is the goal and the end result.
