Not too long ago I read where it's posssible to find the chords to any given song. Can soneone help me with this?

Those sites are pretty cool, but there's just no substitue for transcribing the tune yourself. The ears are key to everything that has to do with music. The more you do it the better you'll get.

Yes, to what Jeff said. As a shortcut, I've downloaded tabs for many songs of off the Internet, only to find the wrong, wrong, wrong. For instance, the chords out there for "Could I Have This Dance?" are full of mistakes.
To save time, though, the quickest way to find tab of songs is with Google. I just search on the song name, or a phrase from a song, plus the word "tab". If I have an mp3 file with no song title, but the song starts out "It's a big job just gettin by,..." I search on "it's a big job just gettin by tab" (sorry, folks, I'm new to the country music genre and was totally unfamiliar with Merle Haggard). |

I've also used www.tabcrawler.com
I think it searches the web for several different tab sites (some of the ones that other folks have mentioned on your post) so you may wind up being able to access several people's "versions" of the same tune. As the other guys have said, the tab/chords/lyrics are only as good as the person who submitted it but I have found it helpful as a basic tool to learning a new tune.
The ads on all of these sites are a real nuisance - it seems like you have to fight your way through lots of pop-ups to actually get to the song you want. Just a caution...I think I remember a while ago some Forumite saying to be careful with the "cowboy lyric" site because they wound up downloading a virus. |

| I also just do a Yahoo search for the song chords. There not always the correct chords but it gives me a good start. Band in a Box has a feature where you can import chords from a midi file so sometimes I find a midi file that sounds good and do it that way too. |

It's almost not important what the chords or keys are as long as I can transpose to the numbers I can make it work.

| Digital Music Mentor. you can put cd or mp3 in and it will display the chords and play the tune and transpose to another key.. |

I find the chords in a lot of the cowpie listings are wrong. Some not even close. I use it mostly for lyrics (and still have to check it against the tune to correct mistakes there too). I'll have to check out the others listed.
