Probably something tiny I am omitting but here is my problem:
When I go to render a BIAB song to .wav, BIAB tells me that it is doing just that. I hear the song in my earphones as it is being recorded.
When I go to listen to it, media player opens, finds the rendered to wav song, plays(the bar moves) but not a sound comes out.
I see the warning on the BIAB screen, to make sure I have my sound card set for 'recording midi' in the properties. As far as I can see my card has no midi recording mode available, just the usual microphone, CD player, wave etc.
my sound card is integrated with the motherboard and is the XEar3D, 2.5 years old.
Could this be my problem and what can be done to fix it short of buying a new sound card? New drivers? |

After you"ve rendered to wave it should play back as a wave, not midi.I don't use the onboard sound card.SB LIVE works for me.PJ |

Yes, PJ, I realize that. But the file going in to get rendered, is a midi file as I understand it. |

I believe you need to make sure your sound card is set to record "what you hear," at least on mine that's it. Click on the little speaker at the bottom and check the "record" settings. If you have Power Tracks it's much easier to do this and you can tweak the BIAB sounds. _________________ Mullen RP D10, Peavey NV112, Hilton volume. Hound Dog reso. Piles of other stuff. |

John, I may have given yous the wrong info as to what kind of file it is. It is a BIAB file...the kind that BIAB makes of your keyed-in song. It's .SGU or whatever BIAB makes. It is THAT one that I am trying to render to wav.
But I will see if I can try your suggestion. It won't hurt. |

Bent , you can save the BIAB file as a standard midi file from BIAB, then do the quicktime thing...JR |

Bent,
You probably don't have the proper input selected for your machines sound card.
Go to Start/All Programs/Accessories/Entertainment/Volume Control (I assume you've got an XP box). Then go to Options/Properties and select recording. You can choose one input at this screen. I can't remember off the top of my head which one it is but my guess is the one you have selected is the one it isn't.
I had the same problem. The software isn't smart enough to know that it's not seeing a signal from BIAB...it'll just keep on recording nothing!
Oh yeah, if you use the SoftSynth that comes with BIAB, it doesn't render the .Wav file in real time. It'll do it in seconds. The Roland soft synth is a small step up in sonic quality from most sound card midi sounds, too. |

Brian, i don't know what the heck's going on. I think it is BIAB that is the culprit. It does exactly what you are saying..."recording" the wav render but the end result is no sound. Then, BIAB tells me that I need 'record wave" on my sound card which I don't have, so maybe that's the problem. Just a pain. But I finally got 'er done. See my next reply.
Thanks for your reply. |

John, That's what I did and it worked.
For those who have the same problem:
I did the quicktime conversion to .mid
Then I downloaded a prog from brothersoft called
Power Midi To MP3. It converts to either one and it worked.
Kinda cumbersome to have to do it this way but at least it worked and I got all the time in the world.
Thanks John. |
