Bill,
I bought a Zum with the hybrid changer.
There are a bunch of pedal steels being built with an all-pull changer but this one is different.
If it's good enough for Buddy Emmons, it's good enough for me! |

Bill I just picked up a Hybrid in Dallas, and I also have been playing the regular changer Zums for a few years now so I have both ! Obviously I am new to the Hybrid but my experience so far would suggest that the Hybrid is a brighter guitar than the standard changer - the highs really sing and are awesome, without any harshness .. the only real change you will experience is the way you tune the primary raises (like a push pull) ..everything else tunes like a normal all pull guitar. The lower register has a bit more of a growl to it too :-}
The one thing clouding my assessment at this point is that the new Hybrid has JW trutones on it and both my other Zums have BL humbuckers -- I will have a better feel for the differences in a month or so after I have had a chance to play the guitar in a number of different environments. |

my standard old 82 zum is still my favorite, but i've never played a hybrid...i would be glad to give my comparison of the two if someone will send me a hybrid. i would prefer a solid purple one...and yes...i'm having a beer! |
