Peavey Neo BW magnet

Post by Mike Brown »

The Neo BW magnet carries a U.S. MSRP of $139.99. This magnet will retrofit the Black Widow magnets post Spider/Peavey(the originals of the '70's). Also, this particular magnet is not to be used on Low Riders and Pro Riders.

Mike
Can you tell us how they compare weight wise with the past peavey series speakers since I understand that was the main issue of the developement of them.
Thanks

BW Neo Magnet

Post by Mike Brown »

The "weight" of the BW magnet(non neo version) was not "the" main reason for the development of the BWX Neo version, but it was one of them. The weight difference between the BW Super Structure(which shipped in all Nashville 400's, 1000's and Vegas 400's is 6 pounds. I have stated on the Forum several times before that our company spends a lot of money for R & D to provide the latest technology in our products, and the introduction of the neo speakers is one of our latest. When you are lugging your amp at 1AM in the morning, this is a substantial amount of weight to carrie to and from the gig.

Have I missed something here?

We all know about lugging heavy amps around at 1am in the morning. There's a bunch of us on this forum who are pro players having done the road gigs, some of us for 30 plus years. I know it was mentioned "that's how the world works" or something like that in relation to to cost of the Neo magnets in Europe. Fact is as much as we want one, some of us just can't afford it when there's such a difference in price to us over here compared to the States. Olli I think you'd agree!!!

neo mag weight

Post by BUDDY BARROWCLIFF »

Mike
I guess we could also ask the queation.
I just weighed a bare BW and saw about 15lbs.
I guess from your reference to super structure are we to believe that would be the speaker frame with out the magnet atached making the existing magnet assembly about 9 lbs
So I ask again , what is the weight of just the magnet of the neo versus the old ones.

It seems like there are some differences in the older magnet assemblys so were they all the same weight or not.
Don't mean to be a bore about all this but we guys out here in the trenches are wanting some relief
