Can this Al guy even really play?;)[/quote] JEEEEZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!!!! Aside from all the other examples given here on whether or not "Can this Al guy really play", let's not leave out the wonderful work he did on the first Stephen Stills Manassas release. I think a little homework is due. That question has to be a joke. C'mon!!!

I am a real fan of James & Al for sure ... however, I think that there must be a much more entertaining piece to play on national TV. So, thye did what they were asked to do ... just asked to cover the wrong stuff. IMHO.

I've had the privilege of knowing Al and hearing him play live on several occasions (mostly dobro or lap steel) here in Franklin and Leipers Fork, TN. Not only a great player, but a super guy as well. Yes, sir...legendary!

Listen to "Torn and Frayed" from the Stones' "Exile On Main Street,"
A classic steel part if there ever was one. Thanks for all the great music Al.

Regarding live TV, there are generally dozens of variables beyond a musician's control that affect what he or she hears on a television show's live monitor system. At that moment, there is no turning back and you do what you can with what you got.
