Do I detect some anger here? Bobbe is an all-right guy. It doesn't hurt to check it out. The internet people won't arrest you for it. I checked it out and thought it was pretty good. I will probably look at both of them from time to time. We have a tendency to not accept what we don't know. I am trying to get over that and it's tough.

Bobbe's new forum is on EZBoard, the same site that houses Off Topic. It's nice that Bobbe has his own place to say what's really on his mind. He's always felt a bit stifled here.

EZBoard is a good place for transient messages, but I couldn't see relying on someone else's business model for the permanent archives of steel guitar discourse. Internet companies come and go. I didn't want our future to be tied to the fortunes of a "dot com" somewhere in internet-land. That's why this Forum is independently owned and operated.

Good point! I don't think it costs for Bobbe to host his. And I respect you for having this forum, b0b, becuase you and so many others have helped me, and continue to help me everyday. But, I wouldn't go saying a thing like that, when you have to take donations to keep it going. This could be the next company to go. Who knows? Maybe Bobbe's looking into the future, not in the present. Maybe he feels that if this one bombs out, people will have something just as good or better to go to.

Bobbe's new forum shouldn't be compared to this one, and vice versa. Actually, each one has things the other doesn't. I really think they go nicely together. Bobbe Seymour knows more about selling, maintaining, and playing steel guitars than anyone I know. He is definitely helping people in ways they couldn't be helped on this forum. But, in the same way, there are things on here that would be better for someone to look at.

It's a nice forum, and has already got 300 some posts since it was started a few days ago. That is quite a start.

I can't say which forum I like better, but I will say that they both help you in ways the other one cannot. Both forums have become equally addictive to me.

The website is: http://pub79.ezboard.com/bsteelguitarnashville

Or, you can go to www.steelguitar.net and click on "Forum" on the left hand side of the page, and it will bring you right to it. It's as simple as that.

I hope y'all are not serious ... if so ... please don't speak for me.

I donated because I enjoy comin' here several times a day and "shootin' the breeze" about my favorite subject...

Just remember folks, a house divided against itself will not stand! Both forums have a purpose and were set in motion for different reasons. Each forum will draw it's own audience and will live or die by it's ethics.

Relax, Rick. The symbol I used is the "razz" face. I am simply "razzing" b0b.

I donated because I do not want to see it go away and I think that b0b should not be stuck paying for it out of his own pocket. It is enough that he administers it for free.

It is a shame this type of clarification was required!

For those who don't understand this business model...

Legally, I own the Steel Guitar Forum. I registered the domain name and the DBA, and the sales tax license is in my name.

The Forum's operating expenses come from 1) member donations, 2) the profits from product sales, and 3) my personal finances. I believe that this business model is fundamentally more sound than most of the dotcom companies in the world, because all three income sources are proven.

The only thing that could really bring down this Forum is bus failure (b0b hit by a bus). Even that might not do it, because I know there are several people who could fill my shoes in the event of personal tragedy.

The largest financial supporters of the Forum are not people in the steel guitar business, by the way. Some of our members are successful businessmen who send large donations on a regular basis. I have seen implications that the Forum has been "bought" by "big steel guitar companies". Nothing could be further from the truth.

This site exists to serve the community, not to serve any individual business interests. Anyone who says anything different doesn't know what they're talking about.

Frank, If I was anymore relaxed I'd be in a coma.

If you read the first statement I made after the quotes ... Your "clarification" would not have been required.

Sadly, this was bound to happen..two Steel Guitar forums, how can we exist with this ?

Not long ago there wasn't even 1...or have we forgotten. I would bet all I have that the intent from Bobbe S. was not to compete for the typing. They are both free to the users and given some time ( more than a few days) the additinal forum will offer a direction and subject matter on it's own merit and will not interfere or compete with the "Original" Steel Guitar Forum .

b0b Lee's place in Steel Guitar history is well written as is Bobbe Seymours, and neither will be erased.

I'm just grateful to be able to access them both.

Well I got a friend in the States to donate a little for me once to b0b as I felt I could never repay what I have learned from his forum, and the personal friends that I have made from all over, the invites...just everything......I have tried to contribute in my own way to help keeping this going,as has my Irish side kick.....so here is where our loyalties lie....dont know and dont want to know what is going on..and dont care either!
