Congrats Herby!!! You deserve it!!! I dont know about that Brogdon Guy though. I don't think he can play any 4/4 or Husky licks. Last I heard of him he was a piano player in a cathouse in New Orleans. LOL
Man I am jealous, Benny is the BEST!!! No problem finding the "groove" when he is laying it down. Now tell him to send me some email, haven't heard from him in awhile.

to play in Always Patsy Cline at the Dalton Little Theater. I am going to make it a point to get up there to see that show. |

Hey Herbster, what can I say ??? It's about time. Are you sure you don't want to play a little piano for me on some of the steel shows?? Just thought I'd ask, since you are one of the great utility players .
Tell "Baby Ben" we are real happy for him also. The show should be super,since it has two of Pigeon Forge's super pickers on board. Maybe they will put a little something "extra in your envelope".

Congrats Herby, If you just play them some of your CD's I'm sure that they'll let you do one of your instrumentals.
As far as your 'Bad Attitude' I think it is a good attitude, your choice of material lately has been excellent, it's nice to breath some fresh air into some of those old classics that some of us young folk were too young to hear. I enjoy them very much, keep up the good work and don't forget about us up here in the NY metro area when it comes times for our show.

Great news, Herby. What show promoters can't seem to get clear in their minds is that steel guitar is a highly versatile instrument in the right hands. They apparently tend to compartmentalize instruments as limited to a specific kind of music and performance, thus are looking for musicians who play multiple instruments.
Take a listen to any of Herby's albums, but especially his recent "Mr. Wallace & Company" to see the versatility of styles and selections which the instrument can achieve in the hands of an artist: jazz, swing, easy listening, and a couple of country shuffles. I put this CD on out at my shop the other day and listened to it closely over and over and marvelled at the musicianship of Herby Wallace.
Maybe instead of looking for musicians who can play a half dozen different instruments, it's time for theater show managers to listen to one who can play anything in any style on one instrument and turn him loose. |

Allow me to add my congratulations and best wishes, Herby - it's long overdue, and it's a crime that a player of your importance isn't working as much as he wants to!!! (A mere mortal like myself has to drive to North Dakota to get work! I envy your short 'commute'.....)
Just as long as you don't go 'stir crazy', though - I'll try to catch the show when I come back down south in September.

Congrats Herby! I can't imagine a community so lame as to not recognize great musicianship when they hear it. Finally someone opened their ears to you.
Tell Ben hey for me. We go back to the mid 70's when Ben, Randy, Mike and I were trying to do twin steel gigs together. We did not have much luck getting paying jobs but we sure had alot of fun trying.

Congratulations Herby.Some how it seems that great artists have a time being recognized in a short time period.As history has proven
it takes years for any good artist to be reconized.I believe that a great many have had to strive for years before being accepted in the whole relm of music especially the steel guitarists.I wonder if it is because it is a reletively new instrument as we all know. And it is in a catagory all by its self especially when it is executed as the great artist execute their artistry.
