Up late tonight, and listening to this great simplistic song.

OK. Who's playin' the fine steel guitar?

Just love this song. Almost as "don't figure me out, but take it for what it's worth" genre as Dylan's "You Aint Goin' Nowhere".

Cool

No steel on the original Randy Newman version, from the "Little Criminals" album. Waddy Wachtel does the very steel-like bends.

"Got my pistol in my pocket, and my horse between my knees.

And I'm going to Arizona.

Boys, excuse me if you please.."

One of the best.

Right up there with "Willin'".

I always liked that one, too. He had a couple of Eagles singing harmony on it. I believe Don Henley, Glenn Frey, and Randy Meisner. I can't remember if that was before Timothy Schmidt. Randy said he felt like the fat kid with a nose plug in the swimming pool singing with the Eagles. Jim and Jesse did a real nice cover of it with a 2/4 beat and the melody at about the same tempo. I remember their's got airplay for about two weeks back around '81-'82.

Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

I'd never heard that one before! Classic Randy Newman humor - if the guy ever got tired of songwriting and composing, he could be a great stand up comic.
