This is just a quick post of what I observed these past few days;
Albert,Deb and the ENTIRE STAFF of the TSGA did a great job to transition THE SHOW to a NEW and BETTER FACILITY !
Get over the slow elevators. This will be addressed.
I like the new digs.
Comfortable and priced right. ( Thanks to Albert and his Staff).
The show schedule had to be adjusted and the persons involved in this MUST be mentioned. THANK YOU for a smooth transition.
The BEST of THE BEST was THE BAND!
Drums- Bass- Fiddle- Guitar.
First class production!
See ya next year,
Rodney

Ronnie Miller brought the Pridesmand (Charle Pride) for his set on Saturday and what a set it was. It's really great to hear a really tight organization such as this band. Thanks Ronnie for an outstanding set.
Thanks to Peavy for bringing the David Tanner group back this year. This is a group that plays together every Thursday nite in Nashville. They are all full time musicians working seperate bands except on the Thursday night gig. The steel player was Carco Clave. A very knowagable player on both necks. We watched all of their sets in the Peavy room and enjoyed each one of them. This group really deserves a spot on the main stage.
Russ Hicks has turned from just an player to a really Great Player. His selection of material and tone of his MSA is something to die for.
In my opinion, Dag Wolf did one of the best sets on the show.

Hey, had a great time at the Dallas show yesterday. As in most years, I only made it to the Saturday evening session. My parents and I drove down together and left after watching most of Joe Wright's show (our agreement was that we were only staying for two songs; that didn't work out so well ) I drove all the way back, got home about 3:30 or so this morning, got up at 7:30 and went to church with my family. (Got a decent nap this afternoon.) What a time!
Man, what a great bunch of pickers! It was great to get to visit with some of the good folks that I see posting so often on here. The tribute to Mr. Hughey was touching and featured some mighty good picking. Can you believe "Look at Us", with four unison guitars all together in Hugheyland?
Hey to Donna and Donna, and thanks to Randy Beavers for your help with my old push-pull problem. I can't wait to investigate, but I have a sneaking suspicion you are right about my changer.
p.s. Tommy Dodd, you made my day with your comment about the delay effect. .
p.p.s. Jay Dee, next year I'm getting together a posse to make you play us some DRB. (I managed to refrain from shouting my request for "Love Reunited" this time.)

I was sorry I couldn't stay for the whole show but had a great time while at the TSGA Jamboree this year, as always. Great people, great music, old friends, new friends, what's not to like? Many thanks to the many folks who stopped by to visit at my booth. Here's a photo of some 'old and new friends' from various far-flung parts of the former British Empire. From left, they are (back row): Billy Murdoch (Scot.), Me, Ted Nesbitt (N. Irel.), Joe Ryan (Irel.), Clive Swindell (Engl.); and kneeling: Mike Fereday (Engl.), Paddy Long (N.Zeal.)

I made Saturday evening to mainly see Gene Fields and his GFI's. I am in the market for a new pedal steel which will be my first. If I have met a nicer guy than Gene Fields I can't remember when. He made this rookie feel welcome and so much so that I will soon be a GFI owner. I loved the ULTRA and EXPO sound and construction. Very nice. It didn't hurt to hear Mike Sigler tearing the living daylights out of the Expo he was playing and then offering to take requests for a good couple of hours. Both Gene and Mike are true gentlemen and a great credit to the pedal steel community. They treat even a beginner with a great deal of respect and were willing to share their knowledge with everyone who asked. You are top notch. Thanks to you Gene and Mike.
