Well, I'm sure there are a few alt.country fans on this site so I figured I'd post this. The newspaper I work for just put out a nice article on the re-release of Whiskeytown's Strangers Almanac. There are interviews with Caitlin Cary and Ryan Adams, along with a few other cool things. Here's the link:

That was an interesting article indeed. The one time I got to see Whiskeytown perform, Ryan was being a good boy and they actually put on a good show. Subsequent shows were marred by his rude/inexplicable behavior.

Thanks for sharing!

Interesting story, and not at all surprising. I saw what was left of Whiskeytown a couple of times after "Strangers Almanac" was released. One of the gigs was very rough, the other not bad. But they had received a phenomenal buildup, which didn't help at all. Lots of promise, but seemed largely unfulfilled, to me.

To me, "Strangers Almanac" had some very good moments, but was uneven. It was almost as if they couldn't figure out what they actually were or where they wanted to go. It took a while, but Ryan seems to have hit his stride in the last several years. I really like what he's doing and his current band.
