I have received a call from area code 086-623-XXXX a couple of times. I have not answered because the AC did not look right. Has anyone received a call from this AC?Where is it, Google doesn't have any definite info. With all the political and other useless calls, I don't answer any that I don't know.Thanks...Bill

The number looks to be in US format, but there is no area code 086. The lowest US area code number is 201 (New Jersey). 86 is the country code for China but I believe they have more than 10 digits in a phone number.

It might be a very long distance call made over a satellite service, from Thailand, or Australia, or South Africa, or it could be a telemarketer. That's the closest matches I can find.

You can input the number in the input field on this page, for any known information about this number.

As to the intent of the caller, I'll hazard to guess that it is either an out-sourced political call, or an attempted phone phishing scam, involving the Government rebate checks soon to be mailed out to most US taxpayers. Telephone scammers from other countries are getting phone numbers of US citizens and trying to scam them into giving up their banking information, by using the ploy that the caller is with the IRS and wants to offer you the option of direct deposit of your rebate funds. Anybody who is talked into this scam will have their bank account emptied within a few minutes, or hours.

Wiz,
Google referred to a name of a town, googled that name, town is in Australia, then looked up a known Australia phone number, these numbers have many more numbers that USA.The page you referred showed no hits for that number.Political,or scam maybe.

Thats why I have caller ID, and don't answer if I don't recognize the name/number.
