My New Jackson Almost done.....

Post by Doug Cross »

Just heard from Dawn at Jackson Steel guitar. My XTreme PSG cabinet is done and ready to begin putting it together!
I'm having it set up with some variant of a E7 SS tuning. She says she'll be in Florida for a Sacred steel convention in April and will be looking for input for suggested SS setups from the people there. I'm new to this and open to suggestions from any and all....Can't wait...javascript:emoticon(':D')

Hey Doug,

The Jackson Xtreme is a really cool and interesting steel guitar. Jackson is the only steel guitar company I know that is thinking ahead by making a model that looks friendly and especially marketable to rock, blues etc. players who are not afraid to think outside of the box and play other "popular" musical forms on the pedal steel guitar.

The pedal steel guitar is a beautiful instrument period and it should not be musically profiled only to country music for the instrument to grow and I think the people at Jackson see this.

I am going to be at the Sacred Steel Convention next month and cant wait to drool at the Jackson booth, which is rumored to have a few Xtremes on hand ;-) .

I'll be tabbing a few tunings myself while there and will share them with you if you want.

Here's my tuning. It's really cool 8) . It's a variant of E13 but works more like E7 with the pedal arrangement.

Does anyone here have experience with the Jackson Xtreme or other models?

Hey Chris,
Thanks for the input on the tunings. Any and all suggestions are much appreciated by me. Any other copedants you want to post? I'm also looking to hear anybody that has got a Jackson. I'm supposed to be getting mine in a few weeks.I'll let you know what I think.
As far as the florida sacred steel convention, anybody have the details? If you drop by the Jackson booth, say Hi to dawn for me. Let em' know what you think about non standard SS tunings. They've told me they will be looking for input for my guitar.

The Jackson was the best sounding pedal steel that I heard over the TSGA weekend show IMHO. Beautiful sound.
