I just read on the supported platforms page, for AVG Free edition, at http://free.grisoft.com, that they will only continue to support Windows 98, ME and NT installations until (through?) August, 2008.

You'll note that they did not give a cutoff date, in August, in this statement, and I don't know how to interpret "as a minimum," at the end of their statement. But, if you are still running a computer that connects to the Internet and whose OS is Windows 98, ME, or NT, protected by AVG Free, you will probably have to find another anti virus solution after they pull the plug on the current one.
You may be thinking about just keeping the last working version for your OS, and that in itself is do-able, but, what are you gonna do when they stop issuing definition updates for it? The program will no longer defend against new threats, just the old ones. AVG currently releases multiple updates daily, to detect new and altered threats in the wild.
If you insist on keeping the older operating systems online, your choices for security programs are getting slimmer every year. _________________ "Wiz" Feinberg, Moderator SGF Computers Forum
