I'm the newest member of the Forum. I have been a steel guitar fan since I was a little boy.
And still have my first steel, a Carvin Console D6 new in 1975. I paid about $175.00 with case.
My uncle, "Smokey" (Al Gillyard), was my biggest influence. He played some for Hank Lockin, and wife Dixie sang and played guitar. He showed me a lot
I am a nonpedal fan but like, and have a lot friends playing, pedal steel.
I like trying different tunings and like the A6th and E7th the best.
A good friend said it was time for me to join the Forum and here I am. He was right of course.
This Forum is great. So far every question I have had, I found most of the answers here
The information here is fantastic and I thank all of you for sharing your knowledge us.
2007 was my 1st trip to ISGC. WOW!
You Friend

Give us a picture of your Carvin D6. I've got a Carvin bass guitar and a couple Carvin amps. |

Well it's about time you got on the Forum
Welcome Jim
Looks like we are going to need some pictures of that Carvin. It is a good looking Steel Guitar.
Hi Rick
It took me almost a year to get him on the Forum.
See you in St. Louis if not sooner.

Welcome aboard, Jim. I'm kind of on a tuning merry-go-round right now. From low C6 to a couple of different versions of high C6 and it looks like I may end up with some A6 as well. I'm beginning to understand what multiple necks are about, I think. _________________ Amor vincit omnia |

Welcome aboard, Jim.
It's always nice visiting with you at the Manasota Steel Guitar jams. We have to miss some of the jams due to baby-sitting commitments, but we will probably see you again before too long.
Email me a picture of you and I'll put it on my web site. _________________ Pioneers of Western Swing HOF, Seattle 2005

Well first thanks everyone for the nice welcome. I'm having a ball
Thanks so much for putting my two most favorite pictures on your web site Roy and hope to see you at the MSGC Jam soon. www.RoysFootprints.com
And Danny for getting the pictures to him.

Last year I rode up to St Louis with Danny Hammers and Don Helms. I like being a name dropper when it's names like that.
I will get some pictures of my Carvin D6, David
Danny, what can I say, you where right. And what a great bunch of people. Thank you so much.
