I always liked the way around 2am he would say hi over the radio to all the pickers that he knew would be driving home from their gigs at about that time.
That was a nice touch.

Hey Skip,it's to bad we don't have that kind of support out here today from the radio J D's now who are on the air that do know us.And I mean, know us.It's sad but true it all about that almighty dollar and if they can't make money off of you they don't know you.It was like that in 60,70 & 1/2 of the 80th. From Paul Bowman,Larry Scott,Don Hillman,Lee Ross,Bill Patersen,Bill George and so on.

You'll find the reason you don't hear it anymore is most of the jocks you hear after midnight are voice tracked now.It takes about 15 minutes to V.T. a 4 hour show. The computer already has the music and commercals installed and progammed to run with the voice tracks. It just plays on its own. This helps cut costs on the budget in broadcasting.

The other reason is some stations are satilite programming after hours. Not the satilite you get with that special radio you have to buy. This comes from one of 4 places,Denver,Dallas,Omaha,or New York. They have several different music formats for any radio station. The jocks there cut stabs for every station they cover all around the country.

Hello Kent,Thanks for the info. So does it mean what you said that Denver,New York,Dallas & Omaha control the programming of air waves to what Music and or Artist is played? And how do you get their addresses to send them your CD or anybodies. Leo J.Eiffert,jr.

Leo, what was the name of that big club where Jack Reeves played that we used to stop in and see Larry? He had a studio right in the club and the building resembled a western town. I think Rod Culpepper played there too. If I remember right, Jimmy Lester and I stopped in there with our guitars and Larry had us play on live on the radio....JH in Va.
Don't matter who's in Austin (or anywhere else) Ralph Mooney is still the king!!!
