I always admired the tone Buddy Emmons had on his Christmas Album. These are the settings he listed as using on his Peavey:
low:-12.. mid:11 0'clock..shift:1 0'clock..high:-6
presence:6. I tried these settings on my Nashville 112 and really liked the results. |

My Session's a '77, and sounds incredible. Here are my standard live settings for E9:
Volume: 4
Treble: 1
Presence: 3
Mid: 1
Shift: 7
Low: 8
Reverb: 4
Sensitivity: 10
Of course, this would be too bassy for C6, but since I use an S10 I like a heavy low end for those faux C6 moments. _________________ Jackson Steel Guitars

Jody, my 1974 session 400 limited came with a booklet,3 sets of recommended settings,E9 , C6 , & guitar, my setting is close to the E9 settings,I use this amp for a 73 PRO-II, I use both necks & unless there is a LOT of room I play guitar thru it .I don't like to adjust the amp when I switch around ,& tho bassey , it works for me .I use a Visual Sound rt 66, & can pre-set the tone for guitar & get a little Fuzz when I'm feeling SNEAKEY. I can copy & mail the guide to you if you like. HERE are the settings. Gain 2-3 ,low +3 , sens 7 , mid 4 , shift 5 , high 0 -1, pres 5 . all 3 recommended settings are drastically different. Altho this is not considered to be a great amp,I prefer it to my Fender Super re-issue, for 1/3 the cost, I am going to add another Peavey to my arsenal,I can post the C6 setting if you like ,as I have heard that you are a C6 kind of guy. Hey Jody, here's a setting that I use on my Rains and it's a little strange but sounds good. I think a Session and mine are the same. Mine is an LTD 400, just a smaller cabinet is the only difference. Here's the settings. They are the settings I was playing on my Youtube stuff.
Bass- 2 o'clock
Mid - all the way to the left
Shift- 12 o'clock
high - +2
presence-+2 _________________ Henry Matthews

Billy Lee, I think that the Limited model is a newer amp than a '74. I believe these were made later in the 80's. If I'm not mistaken, it's a fairly different amp than a Session 400 or an LTD. Brad Sarno once mentioned that the original Session 400 is a way different beast than all the other Peavey steel amps. I would be curious to see, however, if these settings sound good when applied to the original Session 400 amp. Alas, mine's in storage until the end of the month. _________________ Jackson Steel Guitars
