A bit of Weissenborn from yesterday's gig

Post by Fred Kinbom »

Yesterday evening I played a gig (all lap steel - Weissenborn and Dobro) here in Brighton, an event for a charity called The Cambodia Trust in a small venue. The atmosphere and the audience were great, and I wanted to share a song from the gig with you:

You can also hear the FAT sound from the Lazy River through a combination of the K&K Pure Western Mini pickup and an SM57 mic.

It seems everyone loves lap steel when they hear it - strange that not more people over here play it!

Have a good day!

Very cool video Fred!
Wonderful tone from the Lazy River . .
And you had that audience in the palm of your hand before you even played the song.

Fred, another excellent video! Thanks for sharing.

I really love this one too:

I use a K&K Pure Western + Baggs Para Acoustic on my regular acoustic along with an SM57 and get excellent results as well.

Nice playing, Fred. My Lazy River should arrive in a couple of days and I hope I can make it sound half as good as you do.

Thanks everyone! I'm glad you enjoyed it! :) I really enjoyed the gig!

Eric - you're in for a treat! My Lazy River just keeps sounding better and better and I have not for one second regretted chosing a Lazy River as my Weissenborn-style guitar! :)
