Anyone know what ohms the SE200 puts out? I've been told it is 4 ohms but I can't find it on the amp anywhere.I tried calling Scott today but I couldn't get in touch with him.I've got a JBL D130 4 ohm I'd like to try in it.I'd just like to know if it'll match up O.K.

The amps don't put out ohms. The speaker has the ohms, resistance, usually 8 or 4. I have an Evans Fet500 and it has enough power to handle a 4 ohm speaker, in fact it has enough power to have blown a number of 4 ohm Blackwidows.

If you are concerned, don't crank up the volume too much, in fact the whole point of a 4 ohm speaker is to have better sound at less volume. At least that's what someone told me, and I believed them.

Thanks Chas,The only thing I could find on the Evans site is it states that the amp is 200W RMS.So I didn't know if this was established using a 4 or 8 ohm speaker,or does it have anything to do with it at all?

It's 8 ohm. If it has the eminence speaker, look for a little sticker which has the serial number and it says 8 ohm. I had to remove the speaker to see the sticker. It's on the inside of the frame.

The new Evans amps are 200 w into 4 ohms. The speaker is 8 ohms so you can use an ext 8 ohm speaker and drop the load to 4 and get the full power.

Good point on the Evans SE-200's with an 8 ohm speaker. The Evans SE-200 that I had with the Deltalite speaker, which is 8 ohms, can only put out a maximum of approx 125 watts, not the full rated 200 watts. I don't know why Evans installed it as they "shot themselves in the foot".

Someone mentioned you can add an additonal 8 ohm speaker in parallel and get the full rated power, which is true, but if you only want to use the amp, alone, you are limited to the lower wattage. That is not mentioned anywhere in the Evans brochures or on line description.

Thanks for the info guy's.
Jack that is exactly what I was needing to know.I thought this was what I was told or read somewhere at one time.I don't know why Evans don't put this info on the amps somewhere. It's a nice clean sounding amp but I wanted to try the JBL in it.

On the general topic of Evans amps and speakers, does anyone know if the AH200 head (either hybrid or non-hybrid) will drive two 8 ohm speakers (even at reduced power)? I have emailed Evans a couple of times with this question but so far no reply. thanks, mp

I have an RE200 combo, same amp as the AH 200 head. Drives two 8 ohm speakers in parallel;load 4 ohms, full output.
