Thanks for the reply Ryan.Thought they might be but the number on them doesn't make sense. Can that number be Fenders code?
I have a possible buyer and I'm trying to establish a price.Thank you. PJ

Not a Jensen. You'd need other numbers to identify it for sure.
Maybe a Utah or something Question

Definitely not Jensens.

It would be real helpful to know what they are in or where they came from.

Utahs are always coded that I've seen. Same with CTS, Oxford and most others.

I have seen two types without normal manufacturing codes: 1) counterfeit Asian imports in the 70's in phony Bassmans (or amps with Fender names that didn't exist, like Deluxe Bass, etc) and the ever-dreaded Pyles. To me, these look like Pyle Alnicos - which are one of the biggest crapshoots when it comes to speakers. Most are absolutely horrible, but every once in a while you stumble on one or two that are absolute gems.

One thing to do NOW - if the speakers sound good, measure the hole for the missing dustcap and email Teb Weber at WeberVST - he will send you a replacement and instructions for mounting (very simple). A small amount of dust in the coil can blow that thing in seconds. I'd put a piece of green or blue low-tak tape over the hole for now to protect it.

Hope that helps.

PS - If they ARE Pyles (and Ted can probably tell you from pics) and sound bad they may possibly be able to be reconed into something much better.

Well we still don't know what they are, but we are makin head way..
Thanks Jim.The amp that they came out of was an AB763 BF Super Reverb.Paper label says "PI",which I read as Sept,'66.Ser. no. is "A 17612".So now I'm thinkin that's after CBS bought the company,so maybe they bought the speakers from some unknown maker.I'm quite sure that they are original.I won't bother replacing the dust caps as I don't have any use for them anyway. The amp has been converted to a Twin circuit with a 15 in.BW speaker. My steel amp.
I'll keep tryin to identify the things.Don't want to "give away" good speakers, but I won't sell junk.
Thanks for the input.PJ

That was the other likely thing after some research today...some CTS's have weird codes.

If they were junkers I would have gladly taken them off your hands and used them in 6-string amps after recones. If you decide to part with them, let me know - I have a soft spot for CTS speakers...I lie their ceramics for Deluxe Reverbs, and some of their alnicos are decent (although with age they HAVE to be reconed for practical purposes - they lose a lot of power handling and need to be remagged as well.

Like I usually say - Ted's the guy to contact.
