Is this the original speaker for earlier NV 400's or a replacement. Should it have a silver dust cover vs. black? |

Alan, I am certainly not Mike, but I can tell you that the 1502 was made with both the black and silver center caps. Although I personally haven't seen an original NV-400 with the black center, I have to assume they were originals at some point.

I believe the 1502 is a bass speaker. Was not the 1501 stock in the NV 400? |

The original speaker was a 1502 (same that was in the Session 500). They started using the 1501 around 1989/90. The change to the 1501 is the reason these models needed the tone mod and why Peavey eventually made the tone changes a production change in (I think) the fall of 96. |

Alan, I had a 1502, no cap, in an Evans and it sounded just great. I much later replaced it with a 1501 SB and couldn't really tell much difference. Both are really fine sounding speakers. Larry _________________ Keep pickin', Larry |

The demand that steel guitar amps have a "chrome dome" is the reason that we maintained the aluminum dust cap. There was a short period of time where we used the paper dust cap, but returned to the "chrome dome" due to popular demand.
Yes, the 1502 was used both in steel amps and for bass applications. |

So, it was by popular demand that the chrome cap was put in steel amps. Ok! Thanks! |

Originally, all BW's were shallow basket speakers. All but the 1501-4 ohm BW changed to the DT version when we began using a KEVLAR cone material which was introduced in the mid '90's. We maintained a shallow basket on the 1501-4 basket specifically for the steel guitar amplifiers that use a paper cone. |

I believe that the "DT" stands for deep throw. |
