March 10th - Hal, Hicks, Hughey - Gardendale, AL!
The Jugtown Steel Guitar Club is pleased to announce and host the following show:
Sunday, March 10th, 2002 at 1:00 to 6:00 PM CST in Gardendale, Alabama
Hal Rugg, John Hughey, and Russ Hicks are the featured performers.
Each one will play a 45 min to 1 hour set, with jam of all three players at the end.
The club is hoping to get the same great backup players that played last year. I think they are the guys who also play at the NTSGC jams and Time Jumpers band. Regardless, you can be assured that quality backup musicians will be there.
Admission is $10 at the door.
Gardendale, AL is just north of Birmingham.
Take I-65 to exit # 271 and go East for about 4 miles. It will dead end into Highway 31. Go South on Highway 31 for about 0.9 of a mile and the Masonic Lodge is on the right. Be careful, it is easy to pass it because it is up a hill just off the road.
BTW, they wanted to schedule more players, but the dues are late. Let's pay up guys and gals.

It goes without saying that it was a great show. You can't go wrong having these great players and a great "Rhythm Section." Add to that the great voices of Rob Parker and Laney Hicks.
It is great getting to talk with such down-to-earth greats as well as Jean Hughey.
John is scheduled to be in the studio with George Jones this week and may occasionally appear with Vince Gill if John's schedule permits.
It appears John and Hal have Lawrence L-910 pickups in their Zums. I could not tell what Russ had in his JCH. Hal was using a Webb amp and an external speaker. John was using his Evans and I believe Russ was using a Stewart amp system.
We wish more would have shown up, but we appreciate all who did.
