If accurate, this is a fascinating piece of new information that throws much of what we've read about the true origins of the electric guitar out of the window.

Andy, thanks for posting that! Do you have any idea what the guitar was supposed to sound like? Was it supposed to just amplify the normal sound, sound like an organ, or what?........Thanks, JH in Va.

It's actually not an electric amplified instrument it was more along the lines of the "Ebow". It used a magnet to move the strings, but was still an acoustic guitar.

If only valves had been invented earlier, they could have reversed the flow and connected the electromagnet to an amp. It would have made a mighty pickup with all those windings!
