At 1:45 pm the 5th performer came on in the person of Ronnie Neighbors from Hot Springs, Ar. He has a music store there and hosts a Gospel Steel Show in his theater and I believe it follows the Dallas show but check on it first.
Ronnie was playing a single ten padded GFI this trip and did his usual great job. He always takes advantage of the great back up band there with songs like Rocky Top --He has his own unique style down well indeed !
At 2:25 The great John Hughey graced the stage and audience with his tremendous style and skills. As those of you know who have heard him, tone and smoothness from here to breakfast !!! He finished his set with "Look At Us" which prompted a well deserved standing ovation !!
3:00 The gracious host of the Jamboree, Mr Tom Brumley took center stage with his very talented Brumley Show House Band. His oldest son, Tommy on drums, son Todd on bass and vocals, Michael Davis on keybords and Barry Bailes playing "drop dead great" lead guitar.
I've been watching this young man improve year by year and he's about reached a zenith that you seldom hear !! Tom played the ones we all are wanting to hear which included medleys from The Buckaroos' days as well as
arangements from days with Ricky Nelson, Desert Rose Band and Dwight Yokum. As many times as I've heard it, I always love the song he wrote for his oldest grand daughter entitled "Nicole". He always closes with a number or two from his Rickenbacher lap steel and the feather touch and tone needs no other decription but wow !!!!
When in Branson be certain to take in The Brumley Music Show at The 76 Music Hall on the strip (Watch for the big fiddle)
One more post a bit later to wind it up--now (sigh) back to this desk work -
