Rabbit Easter, former Musician of the Year in Gospel Music, will appear at the Country Village Restaurant in Tickfaw, Louisiana on February 2, 2002. The band I play for, the Country Village Band will also be playing. My dad will be sitting in with me that night!
Three hours of great atmosphere and Gospel music, not to mention the best catfish buffet in Louisiana! Let's support this fine musician![This message was edited by Reggie Duncan on 19 January 2002 at 11:47 AM.] |

What a night! We had the Rabbit and more importantly, the Lord, at the Village tonight!
I arrived about 4:45pm and Rabbit and his friend, whose name I can't remember, were waiting. We said a few howdys and he started setting up. Such a great spirit about him! Rabbit's goal is to be sure no one leaves without knowing the gospel! No one did! Many were blessed, and me of course!
Rabbit's songs had strong lyrics and were delivered with conviction. Rabbit doesn't put on any airs! He is real and people instantly connect with him and the message he has to share. An EXTREME family man!
His banjo and dobro playing was super! But his steel playing was stupendous! He played "Because He Lives" so beautifully!
He played "Who Am I?" also. WOW!
We had a jam session at the end of the show. Rabbit kicked off "I'll Fly Away" on the banjo real fast. I had to hang on to survive my turn! Dad, J.L. Duncan, hung on rather well. Such a pleasure to have my dad on his Lashley LeGrande II, beside me. We did another bluegrass style song or two and Rabbit said, "I'm gonna sit down to the steel, now". We played 3 or 4 additional songs and swapped playing the fills. He flawlessly played fills on songs he had probably never played. A true professional and credit to the instrument.
I will interject at this point, that someone wanted to heat Suppertime and we didn't have the words to it. So, Dad said he would do it instrumentally. Super job! Wish the tape recorder had been going.
We ended the jam with Amazing Grace. What a beautiful job on that song, Rabbit.
We had 8 or so steelers in attendance and they really had a blast. Thanks, Rabbit, for an evening to remember! Thanks, Lord, for showing up and blessing our lives one more time! It doesn't get any better than this!
In His Service,
