"Put your A pedal in and let your B pedal out put the bar on the strings and you shake it all about." I think it was something like the "Hokey Pokey". My style hasn't changed much.

I worked through the Neil Flanz E9 Instruction method. After I got most of that "pedal mashing" down... I started attempting to apply it to various songs. A lick here and a lick there. I think "Drug Store Truck Drivin' Man was the first complete song I ever managed to make it through.

This is off topic, but when I played for the late Jerry Eugene, he sang the Hokey Pokey, and instead of playing on the tune, I would leave the stage and join the dancers. Then at one point Jerry would sing "You put your steel player in you put you steel player out..."

The first song I played was either Red River Valley or Streets of Larado, which ever came first in Winnie's book. The first song I ever figured out on my own was She Thinks I still Care.

I think Red River Rock was done by Johnny and the Hurricanes.
The 1st song that I could play as a solo was "Bummin' Around".

For me, it was probably "Cold, Cold Heart", and "Look At Us" after "Cold, Cold Heart".
