Here is a shot of a customer's amp I modded. He did the Tolex, grill, handle and hardware with supplies I got for him from Mojotone.

What a beauty!!!

I guess I'll claim this one. Ken, you sneaky devil Wink This was the first time I've ever tolexed an amp before, and with a little advise from ken it turned out great, I might add. Having the Ken Fox mod installed in my Nashville 400 has brought it to life! It sounds as good as it looks! Thanks Ken.

WAYNE! Nice Job on that 400!

Ken is a great guy to have around. I took a couple amps to a show in Daleville, Alabama last month and he fixed them both in 20 minutes. THEN if that wasn't enough, he backed me up on the last set with some fine Tele pickin'!

Ken you're as handy as a shirt pocket!

P.S. Wayne did ya get the picture I sent from the NTSGA October Jam?

That is nice. I have just looked on Mojotone's web site and they don't have direct replacement corners for Peavey amps. I guess the ones on this amp were a close 2nd choice.

I am thinking of recovering my NV 400 in white tolex. Not very practical but smart.

The corners are Mojotone with the lip. A great Fender or Peavey replacement. I install them with a large rubber mallet to get a smooth fit to the cabinet. Sounds brutal, but it is the only way to form them right to the cabinet!

How much work is a retolex job like that ?
Where could I find detailed info about it?

Thanks,

Ken - isn't there a risk of tearing the tolex with the metal corners by doing that?

Never hurt one yet. My friend that build cabs taught me how to do it. He had done hundreds of them that way.

Jim Walker: Thanks, It was a fun project. Yes, I did recieve the pictures from the NTSGA. Thanks for sending that my way!

Olli: The time that it took to complete this job was about 8 hours. And, I got all the how to's and parts through Ken Fox. Thanks again Ken!...WD

That looks great Wayne... I owned a Nash 400 a few years ago that I re-tolexed in a similar way. I've got a couple of Session 400s now and I'm thinking about giving the newer one the same treatment. I like the way those Peaveys look with that 'vintage Fender' sorta look.

Beautiful job! It's hard to tell from the picture, but do I see piping around the grill cloth?

Wow! Peavey should come out with a new line of NV 400's with this look. Very nice!

Ha, hey Chris... not any more.. as I posted that pic I realized that I don't have any of that stuff anymore except the neck off the Tele and the Flite case for the Twin. Smile

My rig these days is pretty nimble.. Carter -> vol pedal -> Session 400. No guitar rig, no effects rack, Flite case only goes when we're on the bus.
