I am currently using an '06 Evans SE200 with the standard preamp and I like it very much, however I'd really like to hear from anyone that has or has had one with the Hybrid Preamp. Has anyone had an opportunity to compare the two side by side?

Thanks for your input Very Happy

Lynn, I have a 2003 model. I ordered the tube preamp from Evans and installed it myself. Took every bit of 15 minutes, just had to notch out a brace for the tubes. Slightly warmer sound with compression thats less noticed at higher bandstand levels. Thou I have not recorded with it, I bet it would sound nice. However, if your looking for the full tube type sound, sadly it's not.

Lynn,I'm using a '07 SE200.I don't have the tube preamp but I am running a BlackBox in front of it.Sounds good to me with my Derby or my P/P Emmon's.

Jerry, thanks for your input. It dosen't sound like it was what you were looking for to me. It that correct?

Ronald, Yours is one year newer than mine but probably not too much difference. Scott told me he improved the power cord to make it more convenient to put away. I may try and borrow a Black Box form someone close by to see if I like what it does.

Anyone else like to provide some feedback or thier impression of the Hybrid preamp?

Lynn, I am happy with the Evans. The tube preamp does warm it up some. I just wanted you to know that it does not sound like a full tube-type amp. After I responded to your post, I played the Evans in the house at lower volume and it has a very pleasing tone.
