Dance every other tuesday - 2 steel players (Missouri)

I want to invite everyone in the Springfield,and Branson area to come the Dance we play ever other Tuesday night in Nixa, Missouri. Starts at 7:00PM. We have a great band,and good crowds. All good pickers and singers are welcome to sit in. We have been trying to have two steel players in the band each time we play. This next Tuesday I will be playing steel with the fantastic steel guitar player-- Jack Musgrave, of Rogersville, Missouri. Two weeks from that night I will be playing steel with the fantastic steel guitar player-- Mike McGee from Everton, Missouri. This is a Dance featuring real country music, not the sugar coated stuff you hear nowdays. The last great steel player I played with at the Dance, was the fantastic Gary Wilson, of Springfield Missouri.
Great singing, great band, with two steel players locking horns! What could be better? Later this year we plan on having a monthly all day Saturday afternoon dance from 12 to 6, featuring local bands that have steel players. My intention is to feature the many great "LOCAL" steel players. The people that come to hear our band love to Dance. The Dance Hall is just south of the Vinegar Plant on the main street running north and south in Nixa, Missouri.

Sounds like a great thing you have going Keith--by the way--isn't there another great steel player right there in Nixa ?? Can't remember his name but his initials is something like "Roger Blevins" ??

Keith, This sounds like the same format as "The Iron Chef". Does this take place in the Kitchen Stadium or the Steel Stadium....

Bill, Roger's wife comes to hear us play. Roger is usually playing every night on the Baldknobber's Show. Maybe we can get him to play with us before he goes back to rehursing. Rick's great band, "The Matador's", alternate ever other Tuesday with us at the same location. Rick, you need to come out next Tuesday to see me and Jack Musgrave lock horns. Both of us will be playing single neck E9th guitars, one is a Sho Bud and one is a Emmons. This area is loaded with some of the best steel guitar players in the world. Just about all of them can out play me, but I keep trying.

Scott, we would love to have you come play with us. We will put you on to play next after Mike Magee. Only problem is, you have to lock horns with me. It shouldn't be much of a problem blowning me away. Then again Scott, I am sometimes dangerous on E9th. Havn't heard from our mutual boss out in Amarallo, Texas. Have you heard from Butch lately?

Keith, this is a great event you are promoting. I think there should be a prize of some sort at the end of the year for the ultimate steeler that shows you the most aggressive competition. You can't pit that E9th against those monster C6th's can you? There is a rumor out that you will be toast before the end of the 1st quarter..... heh heh heh.....

Seriously, this is a very nice thing you are doing. Like Bill said, this is a great opportunity for some guys to get in front of a crowd and pick some with a good backup steeler and band. Kinda like a driving instructor sitting beside you in case you need help.... Thanks Keith

Keith,
Who else is working with you on tuesday nights?
I haven't been to Nixa since 1978. Terry Martin was living there. My wife and I stopped to visit with him about a picking job.His wife was frying chicken and we were hungry. Times were tough and only enough chicken for them. So, we drove and drooled home and had homemade sawdust pancakes with sugar and water syrup. Lots of fibre.

What day is that. Gotta check with the boss and see if she'll give me they day of and gas money. Talked to Butch a little bit before Christmas. He's doing great. That reminds me I need another rockabilly CD from you to sed to him. I'll get with you on that when I come down. I tolf him about the Cover and he just chuckled and said "Sounds like Keith!" Hate to miss Jack Musgrave with Keith tonight but I just had my neck operated on and won't be doing much for about 3 more days. Someone please report back and let me know if Keith hung in there or had to throw in the towel..

I arrived early just to hear twin steels dueling. Keith Hilton & Jack Musgrave both were impressive. Jack played his LDG with Standel amp. & Keith played an Emmons II with Fender amp. I enjoyed their playing very much. Ernie Jackson's fiddle & singing is always one of my favorites.

Leonard it was great seeing you last night. Boy, didn't we have fun. Full house and a full dance floor all night long. I couldn't believe how many great pickers and singers showed up for the show. Rick, to answer your question--Yes, Jack Musgrave easily out picked me lastnight. I hung in there, but got my tail whipped again. Leonard, I'm with you, I thought Earnie Jackson did great on fiddle and singing. We do it all over again in two weeks. The great Mike Magee will be locking horns with me--twin steels again. I guarantee I will get my tail whipped again. All these guys out pick me, but that don't stop me from trying. The main thing is everyone had FUN. Me and Jack Musgrave was not taking any hostages last night on our E9th pedal steels. We made the singers stand up and sing.

Wish you had been there Gary. The big dance is growing in popularity each time we play. It is becoming the hang out for all the pickers in this area. Most of the guys in the band have played in night clubs for at least 20 plus years. With that kind of experience on the band stand, we should know how to draw a crowd. Besides good musicians and good singers, people come to dance. Nothing draws a crowd like a crowd. The only thing I want to improve on is the vocal monitors. I have two new sets of monitors I plan on bringing next time. Gary this thing is growing---it is just like the good old times in Joplin.
