Jim Loessberg is becoming quite a record producer. I just got a copy of his latest release, Frenchie Burke's Dance Album, on which Frenchie renders simply wonderful versions of Cajun, Texas shuffle and western swing standards, with Randy Reinhart and Jim L. on steel, Bobby Flores and Frenchie on fiddles, and Bobby F. on guitar.

These are mostly songs we've all heard time and time again... at least we have if we have the good fortune to live in Texas... but the way they're played and recorded is just FINE! Frenchie is a great singer and entertainer in addition to being world-class on the fiddle.

The way he sings "Together Again" is worth the price of the album alone! This version of "Big Mamou" also rivals Frenchie's 1970's version with Bobby Flores getting down on the guitar like I'd never heard him play, and I've played with him a lot. And Randy Reinhart is one of the most UNDER-recorded steel players in history, IMHO.

Yeah, these guys are my friends and picking buddies, but I'm not simply stroking them... this is a fine record.

The songs: Pride, The Kind of Love I Can't Forget, Louisiana Fiddle Man, I'll Just Have a Cup of Coffee, Together Again, Big Mamou, Westphalia Waltz, Jambalaya, Release Me, Cajun Stripper, The Arms of a Fool, Louisiana Man.

Beautiful stuff. Contact Jim at Startexrecords@aol.com for this one.

Hey folks,

I have to say that if real Country music manages to survive it will be because of those of you who go out of their way to support and promote it.

Thank you all so much for taking the time to write about Frenchie's album. As you know, Justin Trevino and I are dedicated to making the best authentic Country records we possibly can. But just because we made them doesn't mean anyone will ever hear them.

Commercial press coverage is very diffucult to obtain for any independent label record so it requires folks like you who take the time to write about them in other places.

Thank you very much also Bobby Lee for providing this forum.

Anyone who wants to support traditional Country music can find out more about Frenchie's album at www.startexrecords.com.

Best wishes,

Jim
