Anyone have any info on Heilman Amplifiers ? The Company was based in St. Paul, Minnesota.

There's a Heilman Amp. Company here in town in the Donelson area owned By a great steel player, Mr. Benny Heilman.I spoke to him a short while back. He is building a new steel amp. I dont know if it's ready yet, but Im going to try one out!

I met Benny Heilman in 1969. He was living in suburban Minneapolis and was building solid state amps in his home. Benny played pedal steel guitar in the Minneapolis area in the 1960s and early 1970s. In about 1973 or 74 Benny moved to Nashville.

| I've known Bennie since he played here in Mpls in 1955, he was building amps here & I had one, Benny never played pedals & still doesn't, He plays great non-pedal & I have a jam tape of his playing that was recorded about 10 yrs ago, He moved to Donelson, Tn. many years ago & has an amp repair service & still builds the Heilman amp! Terry Bethel had one of his amps when Terry played for Loretta Lynn, I'm sure Terry could bring you up to date on any current info! au |
