Mike, do you know, is there a way to order these from outside U.S.? I checked the website, but the ordering process only seems to work from the U.S. or Canada.

| I neglected to mention that this eight DVD box set is priced at $119.96 which works out to about $15 per disc. The entire series is narrated by Marty Stewart and has 120 digitally remastered performances by artists such as Kitty Wells, Dottie West, Connie Smith (with Weldon), Johnny Cash and June Carter, Jim Reeves, Patsy Cline, Willie Nelson, Ray Price, Conway Twitty, Loretta Lynn, George Jones, Tammy Wynette, Charlie Walker, Ernest Tubb, Bill Monroe, Chet Atkins, Flatt and Scruggs, Porter Wagoner, Dolly Parton, Hank Snow, Stonewall Jackson, and many others(whew, I'm starting to sound like a commercial)... and yes there is steel guitar on some of the songs. |

I thought at first that they might be the Gannaway stuff, but apparently not. Or at best only partially Gannaway.
There were about 100 of the Gannaway half hour shows, all from 1954 to 1956. They didn't have Cash, Connie Smith, Charlie Walker, Stonewall, Dottie West, Loretta, Willie, Patsy, etc.
They were packaged and repackaged many times. Often spliced together, so you would get ET or Carl Smith in a red jacket at the beginning of a show and a blue jacket when he came back to do another song. They are still the best vintage footage of many artists, and color to boot. |

| From what I could gather from the TV advert, much of the footage from this TimeLife Opry collection appears to be in color although some of the older taped performances like Patsy Cline, Jim Reeves, Johnny Cash, Willie, and several others are in B&W. I believe that most of these performances were from the Ryman auditorium if I'm not mistaken. The collection also features several interviews with various artists, and there's a money back guarantee if you are not satisfied. |

I got these for Christmas. There are some good shots of Buddy, Weldon, and a very young John Hughey with Conway. Plus alot more that I couldn't name. Very good stuff. Some of it is Old Opry performances and some from the TV show That Good Ole Nashville Music. And many others!  Love bonus interviews! |

Really? Gosh I thought they were pretty great.Full color and all the stars were in their prime. As a matter of fact PBS used to run those shows in the 80's the show was called "Classic Country",and that's how I really became exposed to those shows.

Well, like they say, Kent..."One man's trash is another man's treasure".
It ticked me off that they could have put all that music (12 tape's worth) on one or two tapes. What with the introductions, the commercials, the square dancers (on EVERY tape), and then only about 15 minutes worth of good music, and then...BACK to commercials...and "whoops", tape over! Well, you can see where I'm coming from. 
The best comparison I could give you would be something like buying a Sunday New Youk Times and paying $1 for each section.
Luckily, after forking out over $200 for the first 12 tapes, I came to my senses and forgot about ever buying the remaining 36 tapes in the set.
I'm real glad you were satisfied, but I guess you could say I wasn't the happiest of customers. |

| I did not purchase the tapes that were advertised on that infomercial.You see they were already avalable under a different title called "Tribuit" and "Stars Of The Grand Ole Opry" and each tape lasts about 50 minutes with no commercials,just the shows.The Cloggers were a part of the show.You can find these on ebay and at the Ernest Tubb Record Shopps. |

The Gannaway tapes had 4-30 minute shows on each one. I got the first 12 they had out and that made 48 shows in all. There was a lot of advertising and square dancing on each one but I was pleased with them. If I hadn't spent that $200.00 I wouldn't have the tapes and wouldn't have the $200.00 now either. Seems we've talked about this before a couple of years ago. Ray
