What were they? Which posts stand out in your mind? Which ones got you fired up... good OR bad.

A thread started by Calvin Walley called "where do I find it". The reason: it contained a reference to "The Missing Link" by Maurice Anderson which has dispelled much of the mystery of the steel guitar fretboard for me, and has made all the sifting I do on this forum--looking for that one pure nugget of gold--worth all the time and trouble. I think that thread contained more information on learning to play the steel than any other I have read in the last 5 months--specifically, the contributions made by JD Sauser
.

Yep, Show Off Your Steel was a biggie. And it's still going strong.

Phil, I agree with you that some of the instructional posts are like Gold! I have learned a lot on this Forum about lap steel tunings, amps, accessories, etc. in the past 8 years, 10 years, whatever it's been.

Hat's off to the libraries of Mickey Adams and Greg Cutshaw, and the good posts of all others who take the time totab and share it.

Thank you, Sirs (and, of course, ladies, as the case may be)!

Mike Neer's posts telling of his sharing Joaquin Murphey MP3's on his myspace led me back to the info about the Joaquin solos tab book By John McGann and Andy Volk... plus gave me some new/old/classic amazing steel playing to listen to.

Thanks Mike!

Thanx Larry S., you reminded me about nothing. I almost forgot to not forget about nothing. Laughing

I didn't get anything out of the "nothing" thread. So I'm with b0b, it's a thread.

This is an excerpt from a thread started by Calvin Walley titled "Where do I find It?"

J.D. Sauser replies:

To those who are interested in details about the concept of my first answer on this thread (learning all positions of ONE chord and how to apply that to ALL chords automatically), I would highly recommend the following course written by Maurice Anderson:

The Missing Link (E9th) which can be found here:
http://www.msapedalsteels.com/reece/page2.html (scroll down)

This course explores this concept in depth like no other source I have seen and also takes it further with playing exercises.

... J-D.

My top votes go to Mickey Adams and Greg Cutshaw for their amazing contributions to the forum with some of the best tab ever including videos. (Where do they find the time to do all of this). I also enjoyed the video posts of David Hartley (what a great refreshing sound of happy and beautiful music).

I think the one that stands out head and shoulders above everything else for me was recently in Our Extended Family section. Despite the pain of very recently losing his beloved wife Peggy, Buddy still found the strength and dignity to thank those people who had sent their heartfelt condolences through the Forum.

He is a marvellous human being who has given so much to so many.

My favorite was the one (can't find it now) where I read about adding the C to C# changes on the C6th tuning strings 3 and 7. This has opened up a whole new world for me on C6th. I probably read about that many times before and said, oh well just another obscure C6th pedal. Then I actually installed it on my guitar and C6th has been so much more fun to play.
