Tom Cochrane and Red Rider

I got to see Tom Cochrane and Red Rider last night. Ken Greer of Red Rider plays guitar, keyboards and a four pedal Fender Steel. It was intersting to see these guys live as I didn't realize a lot of the parts I thought were slide guitar were actually played on a pedal steel. Great concert!! They are doing a tour in Canada with Mellencamp in February.

I'm a long time fan of Cochrane/Red Rider. I didn't realize Greer played steel until I saw him backing Lawrence Gowan on the Rita MacNeil Show about 10 years ago Cool

Great live band........I know Ken a bit through some friends. He is a very inventive, unconventional player. He once sat behind my steel at a gig, but decided he was having too much fun in the audience and gave the pac seat back to me. Smile

He told me he only uses one pedal, and no knees.

BTW, that's Ken playing steel on the Red Rider Canadian classics "White Hot" and "Lunatic Fringe". He also does some very tasteful work on Lawrence Gowan's hits "Time for Love" and "Dancing on My Own Ground".
