One of my PSG legs is loose right where the threads are. Is there a magic way to replace just the threaded part? It sure seems to be attached really well in spite of the fact its loose. Its for a LDG.

TIA,

You can remove the threaded part by taking the leg apart, and then using a piece of rod or small pipe to tap out the threaded insert from the inside. Since it's usually the leg (and not the insert) that gets deformed, a new insert won't always fix the problem. I've had good luck cleaning the leg and insert with alcohol, and then simply using glue when re-assembling them. Either epoxy or a cyanoacrylate (crazy) glue should work fine.

If you need to drill and helicoil the body, and you're sure that's what it is, send me an email.

I have a set I'd either loan you by mail, or sell cheap. Including the drill bit and helicoils.

Here's a tip if you cut 5/8" off old end after insert is removed, put insert in the freezer for one hour.Warm legg with hair dryer to being hot,tap insert back in with wood part of hammer.Let cool, wah la good to go ,will be tight again.Finaly re-adjust
legg height with clutch to make up for removed section.Use a small amount of never seize on female
threads in guitar not leggs.A little of this stuff goes along way and could be messey so just a smidjen
will do.
