Here's a home brew recording of "Soft Rain" for you to listen to (by the fire if you live anywhere near me). MSA Legend, Goodrich 120 pot pedal, Guyatone MD-3, Boss RV-5, Fender Steel King mic'ed with a Shure SM-57 and recorded on a Yamaha AW-2400.

The unison part starting at 0:52 was done on strings 1 and 4 with the 3rd pedal activated. I won't be posting any 3rd pedal tab today so this should cover a neat use of this pedal.

Hear It!

Greg, home brew or not, I enjoy listening to your playing. If you hadn't listed your equipment up front, to my ear, I would sworn you were playing a Sho-Bud. Anyone else agree?

Thanks for listening and commenting Roger!

I probably tend to set my controls to favor a Sho-Bud type of sound. This guitar has a very even Timbre across all 20 strings and up and down the neck so unlike my Sho-Bud Pro II Custom, you don't have to to stay within a narrow pocket of frets or strings to get a consistent sound. It doesn't have anywhere near the sustain that my Emmons PP had but it does have more sustain than any of the Buds I've owned. Adding a bit of delay to the mix increases the sustain and the larger BJS bar has made the bottom notes a bit clearer and also increased the sustain a bit.

Greg: What a fine melody to send our way on Xmas Day. Merry Xmas, by the way, Greg. I love this song and very well done; I enjoyed hearing the switch- over to C-6th; but really enjoy hearing you play on the E-9th neck, more so. Thanks for sharing Soft Rain with your fellow forumites.. Bernie Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Very nice stuff. We get lots of comments on your steel playing and tabs but not much said about your 6 string picking. Very smooth and with great taste.
Merry Christmas

Bernie, I did this song as a Christmas present to my Dad. It's one of his favorite songs and he like's the melody so I tried to keep it pretty simple.

Danny, many thanks! Having 100% steel guitar on a track is just too much, so I add the lead part. I thinking about getting the NS CR5 5 string fiddle but haven't decided if I want to get back into that. Only so many hours in a day!

John, I do have the backing track. It has rhythm guitar, tic tac guitar, bass, drums and some piano on it. I will try to post the tab and the backing track in the tab section of the forum within a week. As with all my stuff, you can easily burn them to a standard CD as .cda files that will play on any CD player using only Windows Explorer. Email me if you need any help with this!

Fantastic! Keep up the great work with The Legend. Reece and the guys at MSA have to be real proud to hear what you're doing with their product (and others). Great sound!

Moreover, thanks for sharing your effort, skills and knowledge.

Ron
