Any opinions of this Ned Steinberger instrument? I've seen some positive reviews on it. I was looking at the Yamaha 5 string electric at a lower price point but the reviews on it are all over the place with many criticizing the quality of construction. I had a Tucker Barrettt 5 string electric for awhile. It had great tone but was not very responsive. It would go almost dead when playing more than one string at a time.

I have no interest in an amplified accoustic violin even though it may have the best amplified sound. I want a Silent type viokin and prefer a 5 string.

All opinions, whether they agree with mine or not, are greatly appreciated!

I played an NS electric double bass and it was quite an interesting instrument. It loses the openness of a real instrument but it MUCH easier to amplify and with a band it would never be noticeable. In a recording environment I'd still use an acoustic.
