Mike, my music knowledge is so limited I had to Google that to figure out if you were serious and you were! Well at least we now have a name for this riff.
If you want a lower voicing of this, it's available on the standard C6th copedant strings 2 and 3 using pedals 6 and 7.

Great post Doug! What a cool song with great drums, horns and a cross between a lot of musical styles. I am pretty sure I never heard that before but then my musical tastes were extremely sterile 20 years ago and I missed a lot of great music that way.

Great little video clip. I was a kid of about 10 (also with a transistor radio) when this tune came out. Doug, you must be five years older than me! I also recognized every street in the video of my home town. |
