"1984, The final set of Wisconsin's Greatest Country Band, the song There Stands the Glass. Jon Jaffe pedal steel guitar, Tom Gleason lead guitar, Shane West bass, Greg Steinberg drums, Don Hunter rhythm guitar."
That's what it says to the right of the video. |

Wowwww, that was fast
Thank´s much Lee and Wade. Lee, I didn´t read it on the right of the video...I think I was to fascinated of the video itself
Wade, I´ve been in Austin this year and will be next year in April. Is Mr. Jon Jaffe playing somewhere in the Texas area ?!?!
I play this song with my band too, but my playing on steel is nothing comparable with Mr. Jaffe. I love his version much!
Regards... Thomas

great job on the steel,I think it would better as a steel guitar instrumental, no singing.[ Spotlight the steel guitar on this one] ,nice job.Tk _________________ Terry Kinnear [ steel wondering] |

If you click on Van Morrison's song of the same title I believe it's Cindy Cashdollar on steel?
Jaffe could double as Danel-Day lewis. Great steel part there. |

Folks,
Thanks for the nice comments. That was 1983,
I think and things have changed.
It brings up very pleasant memories to see it.
Here is a picture of a reunion gig 2007.
Thomas, email me, call (I am in the phonebook),
or go to my myspace site to see where I will be picking.
I would like to meet you.

Hi folks!
I love this forum...where else can we get together before the www exists
Wade, thanks much for your replies and making the contact to Mr. Jon Jaffe.
Jon, it´s a great pleasure for me, that you read my topic and put a reply here. And.... sorry for my "bad" playing on this nice song
I really want to meet you too next year in april, when I´m coming to Texas again. I will send you a private mail soon.
Regards for all of you... Thomas |

Actually Thomas, that’s Doctor Jon Jaffe. He teaches internal medicine at Scott and White Hospital in Temple (did I get that right Jon?). He plays steel so he can afford to be a doctor. Hah.
Jon’s a great player. I’ve done a few gigs with him in the last few years. As you can hear, he was already playing great stuff 25 years ago and he’s even better now. Very clean and in tune. I didn’t know he was a cheesehead though. There’s some great players here in Austin from Wisconsin. Randy Glines, the bass player in the Cornell Hurd Band is from Racine and he’s a good as they get. And Jim Lutz is a fabulous guitar player who moved down here a few years ago. Must be the fromage. |

Howard, thanks for the kudos and outing me. The subject is Emergency Medicine. Actually, I just chilled in Wisconsin for 5 years. I am from Philly, and I like my cheese with steak, sauce and onions...from Moma's or Delasandros. |

I found this cool version of the nice Webb Pierce song on you tube. Does anyone know who plays his Kline steel so nice ?!?!

I do know two gentlemen who play a kline. Both are very good.
