I was asked once to conduct a funeral for a gentleman that I didn't know...when I got to the man's house I talked with his widow and his daughter.

I mentioned that I didn't recognize her husband's name and she said, "Old Charley wasn't of your faith but he respected your church and it's people and always said that if he was to join any church it would be yours", so we decided to have you conduct the services." I said that I'd be honored to do anything I could.

When I got to the funeral home with some people to help with the singing and a short service and talk, I didn't see "Charley" and was told by his widow that he was giving his body to science and that his parts were probably pretty well scattered around the bay area....When she said that I was waiting to hear a rimshot but didn't hear it.

Nice folks and a well received service though.
