Need Help Identifing Old Lap Steel

Post by Joey Ace »

I'm sure someone here would have info on this gem:

Image

It's believed to be a 1938 Vega.

I suspect it's a 50's era Valco, but I've only seen this picture.

It's a Vega.
The logo on the headstock identifies it.

The fret board also identifies it. The square plates under the tone & volume knobs are also Vega.
I have a 7 string, and like it very much.

Joey,
If your interested I have a Vega amp (very good cond) I bought new back in the early 50's I'd be willing to sell. Been stored for 50+ years. Works fine.

Not interested in the amp, thanks. This isn't my guitar.

Thanks for the replies. So it a Vega. I've since see pix of other Vegas and they all had those colorful fret markers.

Is this the same Vega company that was located in Boston, and famous for banjos? (Martin Guitars bought that company in the 70s)

Any idea of the model of age of this guitar?

Thanks!
