Hi Reece. The serial numbers on my 2 older guitars are 1C1791 and 1C5307. I bought the maple guitar directly from MSA in 1979, but as I recall it was used and reconditioned. Somebody traded it in on a newer guitar.

Can you tell me the dates these guitar were made? Thanks.

BTW, I've been told by a world class player that my maple body guitar is the single best sounding MSA he had ever heard.

Even though I now have a Millennium, I still play these older guitars. One is on my living room, and I use it for woodshedding, and the other is in the studio in the basement and will be used for recording in the future.

Mike....I apologize for my delayed response. I didn't see your post until just now.

Serial number 1C1791 shows to be a white single 12 which left the factory with 5 and 4. It was originally shipped to CMI in chicago and was born on January 25th 1974.

Serial number 1C5307 was originally shipped to a man named Jack Sutton. The guitar shows to be an emerald green which left the factory with 6 and 5. The specific born on date was not entered into record, however they do indicate it was built in September of 1976.

Mr Sutton's loss is my gain. I have loved his former guitar for 27 years. I've had the white one since 1981 or '82 and it too is a joy to play on.

Even though these 2 guitars have been surpassed in many ways by the Millennium, they are still both great guitars. As I said earlier I still use them.

I owe you many "thank you"s Reece. For your friendship and advise over the years, for your emotional support while my mother's was dying, for your support for my unusual musical efforts, etc., even for answering this inquiry, but I want to thank you once again for building such fantastic guitars, both in the past and today.
