Hi to everyone on the forum, I have been on the outside looking in for some time now so I feel I know many of you already. I am amazed at the wealth of knowledge that is on the forum and pleased now to be a part of it.
I would like to say Hi to all the players in the UK and to anyone in the States who knows me.

Once I work things out I'll post some pictures.Been playing a Bennett for the last 25 years and having a new SD10 built at the momment with 4&6.

Hi Ray and welcome....it's about time, mind you I used to just read this forum like yourself, then when I eventually joined I found as you will too, that your address book will get bigger from our forumite friends in America who will become friends. I have had so much help via this great forum. You and Sue, Steve and your daughter have a great happy and healthy Christmas, and see you soon somewhere, probably at Harefield village when I go for my next check/up at that place that gave me a second chance

Tim,
Yes Ronnie is building my new guitar, 4 on the floor and 6 knees. I looked closely at the Franklin set up and the amount of unison pulls he has on there is awesome.Plus a little of Tommy White and one or two of my own changes will be a whole new ball game for me on this guitar, it should be ready mid January and I can't wait to get started on it.

There certainly are, it's great just get back in contact with all you guys after such a long time. I have retired from my Proper Job(early Retirement, not a bus pass job yet) so I have more than enough time to get back on the road ,doing a lot of dep jobs at the momment.

Reiterating on what Tim said about Ronnie Bennett,
I had him strip out the undercarrige of my ZB D-11/10
and put one of his systems in ( except for the changer head )with the mistaken belief that it would
make it lighter ! Great workmanship but lighter,I
don't think so,got some photo's of it somewhere,I'll
post them when I find 'em.

That was a long time ago,it was me on Whiskey Drinking Man and Saving Up My Nights.
They were a great little band Jimmy wrote some good songs.

Ray, I do believe that little Jimmy Nichol the Scots guy who played lead and sang with "Firewater" passed away many many years ago. He must have been very young. Steve Gee the second guitarist managed a record shop in Barking Essex. We're going back some years now, when you were with Vic Woodhouse and "Hickory Lake" and on a Sho-Bud D-10 I believe, before your Bennett. Re the Z.B. days, I'll never forget driving home from Eric Snowball's "steel mill" and upon opening my case realised I had your D-10 Z.B. as opposed to my S-10 Z.B. We must have both left them there for tweaking, and after a couple pints with Eric at the pub across the road, picked up the wrong case. I should have told by the weight....but I blame the couple pints!!

Hey Frank DeNigris, nice website you got there. Surely you were kidding about steel players in England??? Though we're a small country, there are loads of us, and Country music is a fair bread and butter living for "some bands". Surely you've heard of Sarah Jory, on the international steel scene??? who's now with Van Morrison??? Well, she's as English as a cup of tea

Myself and new Forumite Ray Kedge have been on pedal steel for over 30 years, as have most of the players here in England. Have a good Christmas
