If you look at some of the old Multi-Kord guitars for sale you will see a red button between the volume and tone controls. Sometimes referred to as a shot gun button. Very effective.A lot of pickers had them installed on other lap steels too.Fender made a pedal with two switches on it . Noe on each side of the pedal. One was fuzz and the other was wah. They were controlled by the up amd down motion of the pedal while the volume was left to right.

Old Bud
PS: I have one of these pedals in mint condition. But it is not for sale yet.

Thanks Willis,
I've got one of those old Fender Fuzz Wha pedals.. not really the right thing for Steel.. but darn cool if you are into acid Rock :) Think I'll stick with the reglar tone/volume fender pedal I'm using but I might add a Shotgun button to it and change the pot value to be something with quicker response. I'm moving my foot way to far side to side now to get some of the effects I hear on the records. Possibly a 1 Meg or 750k ohm pot. Need to find a good source for the heavy duty Mil spec closed pots. Radio Shack doesn't have them. Google here I come.
Thanks
Bill

Bill - It sounds like someone must have replaced the tone pot with the wrong type. I'm prone to get them mixed up, but I believe you want a linear taper pot for the tone - it's the type of pot where it comes on quickly in the first 1/3 of a turn. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I do know the original values of the pots are 250k in the Fender vol/tone pedal. Hard to find replacements with the right value, longish shaft and good quick action.
