I don't know. My Dad used to be an avid Aston Villa supporter but I gave up going down Villa Park about 1955, and discussion of that "other" team, the Blues at St. Andrews (Birmingham City) was verboten in our household. as were the Baggies (West Bromwich Albion)

In 1957 I took up REAL football, Rugby Union, and lost all interest in so**er.

I like rugby. It's (yankee) football without the body armour. Makes the super bowl look like a sissie's game

What do you suggest I call it ? Togger ? Certainly not Football. The only real football is rugby. When I was at Grammar School we would be caned if we played soccer. It was not considered a gentleman's game.

American football started out as rugby, but the two games separated when they introduced the forward pass rule. From then on the two games drifted in different directions. It's like the split between rounders and baseball, and netball and basketball, they started out as the same game.

I suppose Association football is the old-fashioned term. We call it fitba' in Scotland.

I thought the old saying was;

Football* is a game for gentlemen, played by hooligans.
Rugby Union is a game for hooligans, played by gentlemen.
Whilst Rugby League is a game for hooligans, played by hooligans.

No matter what, it's all a load of balls that has us talking about something other than nothing.

I was always told that an empty sheet of paper is an opportunity, an opening, an invitation. A sheet of paper with NOTHING written on it is much more valuable that one that has been written on. Once it's written on you can't use it, but while it's blank it's ready to receive anything you may choose to write.

Of course, once you do write on it then it's no longer free to receive uncompromised information.

So don't write anything on a blank sheet of paper lest you compromise its possibilities....

Does anyone know if your name shows up on someone's caller ID screen if you hang up after the first ring?

I just dialed 668-4464 (NOT-HING) to see what would happen and it rang!

I hung up right away but I'm a little worried.
