GOT A FINE NEW CD, "TIL THE MILKCOWS FLY" OUT. IT FEATURES THE FANTASTIC PEDAL STEEL OF THE FAMOUS EARNEST BOVINE. I've heard this CD and it is Real Good Original Music. Earnest Bovine struts his E9th chops behind Tom and gets in some tasty and hot steel solos. That Livingston guy on piano is pretty good, too!

YEA, THEY DON'T LIKE TO WORK TOGETHER. SEE, I DON'T KNOW IF I SHOULD MENTION THIS ON THE FORUM, BEEN A LONG TIME SINCE IT WAS BROUGHT UP ABOUT STEELERS, BUT THEY AVOID WORKING TOGETHER 'CAUSE THEY'RE, WELL-INTIMATE, VERY CLOSE- AND IT MAKES THEM NERVOUS TO BE IN THE STUDIO TOGETHER. YOU KNOW, BOVINE PLAYED PIANO ON A SNEAKY PETE ALBUM I'VE GOT, BUT COME TO FIND OUT-HE LEARNED FROM LIVINGSTON. SO I GOT DOUG FOR THE SESSIONS ON KEYBOARDS. THEY'VE BEEN CLOSE FOR SO LONG THEY'RE STARTING TO LOOK ALIKE. I'D BET YOU A COLD BEER WILL RAY COULDN'T TELL THEM APART IF THEY WEREN'T AT THEIR INSTUMENT.

I tried the link to the MP3 and it's apparently no longer available. My Windows Media player hangs up and if I go to the site and click on MP3 I get a page that says the link is invalid.

This link works for me, Jack. I tried it on a Win2K computer that defaults to WinAmp and on a WinME computer that defaults to Media Player.

Still doesn't work for me. All I get on Windows Media Player is "connecting". The only way I can get out of it is to do a CTRL/ALT/DEL and do an end task on the media player.

Windows Media Player is my default MP3 player.

Also, like I said when I went to their site and clicked on the MP3 link, I got a page that said the link is no longer available.

YES I DO BELIEVE IT IS THAT SAME BOBBY BRUCE. BOVINE SAID HE WAS THE MAN IN THE LA STUDIOS ABOUT 20 YRS AGO. THAT, OF COURSE, IT WAS WAAAAAY BEFORE MY TIME. NOT THAT EARNEST IS OLD-HE'S JUST BEEN AROUND THIS NECK OF THE WOODS MUCH LONGER THAN ME. SORRY EARNEST.
HE WAS REFERED TO ME BY ANOTHER FIDDLER WHOSE NAME I LOST.
AS TO THE MP3, A FEW PEOPLE I GOT TO CHECK IT SAID IT SEEMED TO WORK OK. I DON'T HAVE AUDIO CAPABILITY ON MY SYSTEM , BUT I'LL GET MY TECH CREW TO CHECK IT OUT.

Im having problems with my whole Windows set-up, I can't get anything to happen, but this is an ongoing problem here.

Regarding Bobby Bruce, he was a session bandleader in Hollywood; as early as the 1960s.
He's on some of the great Warren Smith country material recorded in the 1960s.
He's listed as bandleader of a nine-piece with Al Petty for one session in the early 1960s for example.

I finally got it! Some great steel in there.

However, I had to use RealPlayer to access it. My Windows Media Player (V7) (default MP3 player) would lock up and never time out if tried to access it by clicking on the link b0b has with I.E.

Sorry Bob, didn't mean to shout. I'm just lazy.
I've got someone working on the faulty link at the page.
EDIT: He says it's all fixed now.
In case there are any rabid Bovine fans out there who actually are going to buy this weird collection of songs and must use a credit card, the CD Baby site is up and on. The steel guitar work on Dollar Bill really is smooth and enjoyable. Now that I can't seem to get this tune out of my head, I only wish my steel guitar playing recorded that smoothly. Nice job.

Recently received Tom Powell's "Til the Milkcows Fly." Loved the tracks, was a little partial to "Ain't I Your Sweet Daddy Anymore," (cut 6) "When Your Ship Sails," (cut 10.) Never had the pleasure of meeting Will Ray or "Ernest Bovine." Loved their playing. I was wondering, is "E. Bovine" on the Forum? If so, would like to hear from him sometime. Hey, thanks a lot Pete. "Ain't I Your Sweet Daddy Anymore" is my favorite too. Hard for me to pick a favorite, but it's arrangement has the best feel to it, to me.
Earnest, who I suppose is not showing up on this post out of modesty-or embarassment at the bad jokes on my part, and Will Ray indeed did some great playing on it. There's a spot on the other tune you mentioned, "When Your Ship Sails" where Will started singing through the f-hole of the arch top he was playing. We thought it was so cool we left it in. Amazing what children will do without adult supervision. I'm sure they appreciate your compliments. Thanks again.
