Bobby Koefer with Bob Wills

Post by Stephen O'Brien »

Here's a great performance by Bob Wills. A person who posted on youtube identifies the steel player as Bobby Koefer. What a touch he has. And who's the fellow playing the guitar upside down? Any comments on Koefer's technique -- it's like nothing I've seen before.

I met Bobby at a street show in Pendelton oregon a few years ago and asked him why he only used a thumb pick and he told me that when he was trying to learn to play he had no pictures to watch and he tryed to make it sound like what he thought he heard on the radio, He said he made his own way to play and just didnt see the need to change. He was a very nice guy to talk with.
