The So. Calif. Western Swing Music Society is seeking a permanent home venue in the Greater L.A. county for it's bi-monthly Dance/Jams. We need a place that for the time being holds at least 300 bodies, a dance floor at least 1500 sq. feet, parkay or hardwood preferred, a good in-house PA to show off our terrific musicians, kitchen and full bar. Any suggestions? Respond to this topic. Thanks!! Cathi P.

I'm hoping you can stay at Montana's. I wrote the management after the last meeting expressing my thanks for the use of their facility and asking them to invite you back.
You might check with the Cowboy Palace in Chatsworth. The dance floor is probably not as large as you'd like, but that's the only place in the valley I am aware of.
There is a place in Thousand Oaks/Agoura that may also be available as the times I've gone out there it has not been crowded.

Thanks John. That was very thoughtful of you to take the time and write a letter of thanks. Montana's was very generous in opening their doors to us. Unfortunately they weren't satisfied with the bar receipts. They are willing to work with us but will probably request some of our door $$. We cannot comply at this time as their bar quota is more than we can possibly guarantee on a Sunday afternoon and our overhead barely breaks even with the door receipts right now. Our hope is that we will be able to guarantee Montana's the kind of bar receipts they require in the future so we can return. It is a beautiful and convenient venue. I'd like to check out Cowboy Palace sometime soon. You are not the first to suggest that club. What is the name of the other club? We're also very interested in Cowboy Country (formerly Silver Bullet) and are waiting for them to gain a permit to open during the daytime hours. Thanks for your great suggestions and interest. See you on June 10th. Cathi P., SCWSMS
